A Frisian sampler typically shows many alphabets and large ornamented initials,
which is why in Friesland they are called 'letter cloths'.
My oldest Frisian sampler dates from 1703. (photo 1) The second letter cloth
displays a date of 1706. (photo2)

From October 16, 2005 to March 12, 2006 the Fries Museum in the city of Leeuwarden
hosts the "Letter voor Letter" exhibition. The themes of exhibition follow the letters
of the alphabet.
